When it comes to Taylor Swift, the world stops and pays attention. We pay attention. It’s the way that she writes the words that we wish we could vocalize. It’s the way that she sees that there are times to grow up and times to hold on. Her words are poetry and her passions are humble and relatable.
As one can imagine we’re excited that Swift has written a brand new song for Toy Story 5. The song, entitled, I Knew It, I Knew You, is now streaming and is revisiting her country roots.
The singer wrote on Instagram, “Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time. Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once. And being a @toystory kid from the age of 5 til now… is an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond.”
“Thank you to the brilliant Andrew Stanton for imagining me for this, all those years ago when you wrote this newest film. Thank you to the incomparable @randynewmanofficial for the gorgeous sonic tapestry of songs and scores you’ve meticulously woven over the years. You created the Toy Story musical world, and we are lucky to get to live in it.” she continued before adding, “By we, I mean myself and my pal @jackantonoff. We wrote this with so much adoration for these characters that made us laugh and helped us learn lessons and think outside the backyard all throughout our childhoods. “I Knew It, I Knew You” from Toy Story 5 is out everywhere now. 🤠🐴”
We can’t imagine how hard it was to keep this secret, but it turns out that not many people knew about the song. It was such a surprise to some that they didn’t know about it til last week.
VFX supervisor Thomas Jordan said at SXSW London, “Turns out, Taylor Swift is a huge ‘Toy Story’ fan like many of us. She actually saw an early version of the film, she requested to see it before it was finished and she wrote the song and then asked us if we wanted it. And we said, ‘Uh, yes! Yes we do.’ That was in February, we’ve had to keep it a secret ever since then.”
Have you streamed the song yet? What are your thoughts?
