Oliver & Josh Closer Than Ever in Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 17

Josh and Oliver are getting closer and closer in Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 17 ‘Doctor, Interrupted,’ and we’re celebrating! Josh reaches out to Oliver with no other intention than to be his friend and help him heal. But Josh loves the man, so he can’t just be his friend. That’s not an option for him.
The more time they spend together, the closer Josh gets to Oliver and starts remembering what it was like when they were together. They aren’t looking for it, they don’t even realize it’s happening, but it is. So, when Beau wants to take the next step in their relationship, Josh isn’t ready.
Josh wants everything Beau offers: the house, the family, the long-term commitment… he’s always wanted it. But now that they’re in it, Josh just doesn’t feel like it’s the right time. Although, in reality, that’s not true. He’s not ready to accept it yet, but what he really feels is that Beau isn’t the right man.
Beau realizes what’s happening in Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 17 ‘Doctor, Interrupted.’ He was always aware that the embers between Josh and Oliver were still burning, but until now, Josh had always chosen him. Josh made it clear on several occasions that they were on the same page. And for Beau, that was more than enough.
Beau assumed that time would kill whatever was still burning between Oliver and Josh. But now that Josh started spending more time with Oliver, everything changed. Beau felt Josh was more distant, even colder. At first, he convinced himself it was all in his head, fueled by jealousy, but when Josh hints that it’s not the right time to buy a house, Beau can no longer ignore what’s happening.
In Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 17 ‘Doctor, Interrupted,’ it’s obvious to Beau that Josh wants all the things he’s always wanted… just not with him. The problem is, Josh is too afraid to accept who he wants to experience those things with because he doesn’t want to get hurt again, and he doesn’t want to hurt Beau either.
Beau knows this. He knows Josh so well that he doesn’t need to say anything because he understands. That’s why he gives Josh the time he needs to decide what his next step should be.
The best part? Oliver is certain that Josh is the love of his life and is ready to win him back. And we can’t wait to see how he does it!

Charlie Finally Apologizes to Oliver

On another note, Josh isn’t the only one there for Oliver in Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 17 ‘Doctor, Interrupted.’ Muriel is also there to watch his back. And we love that because it stopped Amelia from keeping Oliver locked away and controlled to prevent him from doing anything against her. The first thing Muriel does is fire Charlie in a way that doesn’t cause a scene. She gets him the best job… but far away from his son.
For Muriel, Charlie is a key factor in Oliver’s mental breakdown. And she’s not wrong that he was a major one, but playing devil’s advocate here, it all started much earlier, as Oliver himself acknowledges in Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 17 ‘Doctor, Interrupted.’
The point is that Charlie is really sorry for what he did… but it’s too late. Muriel doesn’t want to hear excuses. And Charlie accepts that his actions have consequences, and in this case, it’s losing the job he came to love. However, Charlie needs to do one more thing before leaving: talk to Oliver.
Even though Charlie doesn’t think he can ever forgive him, he didn’t want everything that happened to happen. He imagined many times what it would be like when he faced Oliver, but he never considered the consequences. And Charlie doesn’t know what those consequences would be, but he does know he didn’t want this.

Charlie Breaks Down After Oliver Truly Sees Him

So in Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 17 ‘Doctor, Interrupted,’ Charlie is very aware that he owes Oliver an apology. And it’s honorable of him to acknowledge it. As we expected, Oliver tries to fight for Charlie, to keep him from leaving.
Charlie reminds him so much of himself…the same rebelliousness, stubbornness, disdain for the rules, the same ambition…and the same pain and anger. That’s why Oliver knows the hospital needs doctors like Charlie and that Charlie needs that job, that team.
What Oliver says to Charlie in Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 17 ‘Doctor, Interrupted,’ is deeply offensive for him. He may be on good terms with Oliver now and understand what he did, but to be like him? That’s too much. Charlie doesn’t want to be like the man who, with good intentions or not, contributed to hurting his mother. He can’t be.
But Oliver saw him. He saw behind that facade of pride and ego. He knows there’s a lot of suffering and anger behind it. Because he felt the same way for much of his life. In the end, both Charlie and Oliver were just fighting to survive and get ahead, alone. Because that’s how they always felt.
And these words from Oliver break Charlie because no one had ever seen him that way. No one had ever truly understood who he is and what he’s fighting against. But Oliver did. That’s why he hugs him and clings to him. The man he hated his whole life is the only one who truly understands him, who understands everything. And that hug means everything to us!
We need Oliver to fight for Charlie and for him to stay. He deserves another chance to make things right. The question is, will he get it?
