Everything We Know About The Boys Of Tommen Adaptation

If you are thinking that the Boys of Tommen is a sports romance, we would argue that it’s not. Yes, it has sports, but it is a lot of things. The biggest thing that it is? Well, it’s one big trigger, so definitely pay attention to those.

The books are DARK.

Nicole Clemens, Prime Video’s international content chief, told Deadline: “It’s just an unbelievable constellation of characters, but it’s also got such a specificity for place and the time. It talks about abuse, about bullying, about mental health, and it’s about love. It’s a romance series.”

The series is a booktok sensation and are international best sellers. Written by Irish author Chloe Walsh, they are inspired by her upbringing in Ireland. From what we’ve seen on line there seems to be no shade of grey here – people either love it or hate it.

Prime Video has a feat ahead – adapting the controversial books. This writer is nervous to see how it plays out, but is always looking forward to any adaptation. Though not much is known now, we’ll be updating this post as more information is released.

THE PLOT

Boys of Tommen follows the forbidden love story of Johnny Kavanagh, the star rugby player on the verge of a pro career, and Shannon Lynch, the talented but painfully shy new girl at the prestigious private school of Tommen College in Ballylaggin, Ireland. Both teenagers are hiding secrets; Johnny, a potentially career-ending injury, and Shannon, a troubled and violent homelife. Through their secret and highly charged connection, the two teens from opposite worlds battle against the odds and find a way to save each other.

The first season of the show will feature eight episodes that explore the first two books in the Boys of Tommen series, Binding 13 and Keeping 13. There are four more books in the series: Saving 6, Redeeming 6, Taming 7, and Releasing 10.
