With the upcoming film adaptation of New York Times bestselling Author Anna Todd’s book The Last Sunrise set to release in one week, we couldn’t think of a more perfect time for the news we’ve learned. According to Deadline, Todd is set to make her television debut with her new book House of Crowns.
While the book does not have a publication date, we know Amazon MGM Studios will once again be involved with the screen adaptation. We also have a synopsis. That’s just enough to get us excited until we have an official release date and cover reveal. House of Crowns is set at an elite boarding school in Switzerland where royalty and world leaders send their children. When a poor outsider there on scholarship and a gilded heiress with dangerous secrets fall into a forbidden love, it could shatter them both.
You had us at “Elite boarding school in Switzerland” and “Forbidden love.” We can’t wait to get this book in our hands eventually. It all sounds so intriguing, and we may have squealed with delight reading about it. Everything about this story tells us we’ll be losing some sleep because we won’t be able to put it down. Honestly, we don’t know what we’re more excited about: the book, the TV series, or both.

Amazon MGM Studios, which produced The Last Sunrise, will produce House of Crowns through their UK division. Writer Elinor Cook will adapt the story. Though the news has yet to be confirmed, sources say Jennifer Gibgot and Andrew Panay of Ethea Entertainment (After franchise, The Last Sunrise) will produce, alongside Lena Roklin (The Last Sunrise) of Luber Roklin, and Will Gould of Moonage Pictures. Todd will be an executive producer.
As we mentioned previously, Todd has a sequel to The Last Sunrise in the works. We still don’t have any official word on this yet, but it seems like she’s going to be one busy woman. And we as fans have a lot to look forward to. House of Crowns is still in the early stages, but we will be sure to keep you updated as we learn more.
