Get ready for more midnight margaritas! That’s right, Practical Magic 2 is almost here! The Owens women are coming back for more witchy fun, and they’ll hit theaters just in time for the start of spooky season. Mark your calendars for September 10!
If you adore the first film as we do, you’ve been anticipating this sequel since it was announced. We’re so ready for more of Sally (Sandra Bullock) and Gillian (Nicole Kidman). Their sisterhood has been missing from our screens for too long! It’s been 28 years since Practical Magic. (Yes, that makes us feel old.) Here’s everything we know about Practical Magic 2!

The Cast and Crew
It’s exciting when movie stars like Bullock and Kidman reprise their roles, but we’re also looking forward to watching the other cast members. Audiences will be treated to old and new faces. Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing return as Sally and Gillian’s feisty and loving aunts, Jet and Franny.
These veterans can be counted on to bring a strong presence to their supporting roles once again. Now that Sally’s daughters, Kylie and Antonia, are young women, they are played by Joey King and Maisie Williams. But there are new characters to enjoy, too! Lee Pace, who we love, joins the ensemble as Ian Wright.
Also taking major roles are Xolo Maridueña (the Blue Beetle himself!) and Solly McLeod. Though we understand why Aidan Quinn didn’t return, we wish Margo Martindale and Chloe Webb had come back to join the fun. Susanne Bier is the director this time around. Also, the co-writer of the first film, Akiva Goldsman, wrote this one, along with Georgia Pritchett and Kelly Marcel.
The Plot
The first Practical Magic film was based on the novel of the same name by Alice Hoffman. It’s no surprise, then, that this sequel is based on her follow-up novel, The Book of Magic. The Owens women have been cursed for hundreds of years. Any man they love is doomed to die, so when Sally lost her husband, Michael, it was only the latest in a long line of tragedies.
We think it is totally unfair. Sally met a man who didn’t believe in curses, Quinn’s Gary Hallett, but it seems that things won’t be that simple. Kylie experiences her own heartbreak involving Mariduena’s character, and Sally must stop her daughter from following a dark path to end the curse. Can the Owens curse be lifted once and for all? Just try to keep us from finding out!

Practical Magic 2 is in theaters on September 10
I’m excited to see it, but sad they didn’t include the original actresses of the children!
I’m looking forward to it. I didn’t read the books and I’m curious to know what happened to Aidan Quinn’s character. The only thing about the original movie I didn’t like was Nicole Kidman’s character I thought was over the top.
