Law & Order: SVU Season 28 is coming, and it’s going to be a special one. This season will feature the series’ 600th episode. Yes, you read that correctly—600 episodes of our ever-changing “elite squad” investigating “especially heinous” crimes. Aside from the milestone, what can we expect out of the season? Here’s everything we know, including the returning cast, premiere date, any teasers, and more.

Cast

Well, here’s the obvious: SVU doesn’t exist without Mariska Hargitay as Olivia Benson (save for a few episodes, many years ago). So, yes, she’ll be back for Season 28. Ice T will also be back as Sgt. Fin Tutuola. In Season 27, we saw less of Fin than usual—and he contributed to the stronger episodes being, well, stronger—but things should feel a lot more normal in Season 28. We’ll also continue to see Aimé Donna Kelly as Captain Curry, Kelli Giddish as Sgt. Amanda Rollins, Peter Scanavino as ADA Carisi, Kevin Kane as Detective Bruno, and Corey Cott as Detective Griffin.

The only non-returning major character from last season, at least as of now, is Noma Dumezweni’s Chief Tynan. Based on how the Season 27 finale went down, we wouldn’t want to cross paths with Liv again if we were her either.

A new face to look out for: J. Smith-Cameron as jury consultant Gwen Sharpe.

Will Detective Stabler return? Other guest stars?

Yes!!! Law & Order: SVU is also known for its guest stars, and we’ll officially be seeing Christopher Meloni in Episode 600, according to Give Me My Remote. Will it finally be time for Benson and Stabler?

Additionally, we know that Jalen Brunson from the New York Knicks will appear in some capacity this season.
