How Does Season 2 Change Henry and Julia’s Story?
There’s something interesting about Henry and Julia’s story in Season 2 because separation is not exactly new territory for them. Season 1 already showed us what happens when circumstances, time, and the world around them conspire to keep them apart. Their relationship was tested in ways neither of them could have anticipated. Finding their way back to each other became a huge part of their story.
But Season 2 changes that.
Henry and Julia are being pushed into very different worlds. And that gives both characters room to experience things independently of each other. It also means that the ways they respond to everything happening around them can evolve in ways that weren’t possible when their stories were more closely intertwined.
For Corfield and Irvine, that shift meant getting to explore different sides of these characters. And that’s important when it comes to Julia and Henry because, even though their relationship remains such an important part of their stories, neither character exists solely through the other. Season 2 gives us more opportunities to see who they are when circumstances force them to face things on their own.
There is also something familiar about the situation. Henry and Julia have experienced separation before, so Season 2 isn’t simply repeating what we saw in Season 1. The circumstances are different, and so are the people facing them.
That creates a very different experience for both characters.
For Julia, the new season brings her into circumstances that challenge her in ways that allow us to see another side of her. After everything she has already endured, watching what she does when she’s pushed even further becomes one of the more compelling parts of her story.
And for Henry, Season 2 continues to deal with the consequences of what he has already lived through. His experiences have changed him, and the person we meet now isn’t the same man we saw at the beginning of Season 1.
That’s something we wanted to ask Corfield and Irvine about directly. Because sometimes the most interesting thing about separating two characters isn’t the distance itself. It’s what we learn about each of them while they’re apart.

What Surprised Hermione Corfield and Jeremy Irvine in Season 2?
After spending an entire season with Henry and Julia, you’d think Corfield and Irvine would know their characters pretty well by now. And they do. But returning for another season also means discovering that there are still things these characters can do that surprise even the actors playing them.
That’s particularly true when a season pushes characters into unfamiliar territory. In Season 2, Julia and Henry’s circumstances force them to react differently. And those reactions reveal things about who they are.
For Julia, that means getting to see more of her ability to push back when she’s in a difficult position. It’s a side of the character that gives Corfield new ground to explore. And also gives Julia agency within a story where so much is happening beyond her control.
Henry’s story takes him somewhere different. His experiences in Season 1 left their mark, and Season 2 doesn’t simply erase those experiences and move on. Instead, what happened before continues to influence how he sees himself, his relationship with Julia, and the possibility of losing something that matters deeply to him.
And that brings us back to the heart of our conversation with Corfield and Irvine.
