911: Nashville Season 2 Episode 1 “Going Rogue” really is giving 9-1-1 some competition when it comes to the buffoonery. Because we’ve got murder hornets right out the gate and then a whole basement filling up with blood like nothing. And I know that’s just the start for Season 2. But I can’t help but be baffled but also excited for the weirdness that is going to come. Because that’s what 9-1-1 is about, no matter the spin-off.
Last we left off for 911: Nashville, Blythe and Dixie had their throwdown fight. And honestly, I didn’t know how everything was going to pan out. I’m kind of delighted but also annoyed that they got put into anger management together. Because Don is the problem. Why isn’t he in therapy? Why aren’t Blythe and Don in therapy?

But also shout out to that guy in therapy who pointed out the tension between Blythe and Dixie. It feels like the writers are paying attention to us fools online (I’m talking about me). Because I see the tension between these two. (Yes, I’ve wondered while also acknowledging that Dixie is the worst.) What would happen if they stopped fighting over a mediocre man and locked in on each other…
Talking about said mediocre man, I love that the therapist pointed out that maybe Blythe and Dixie aren’t truly mad at each other. Maybe they’re mad at Don. And they should be mad at Don. He takes zero accountability, especially when he was on the cusp of cheating and has been dragging Dixie along without shutting her down as he should. Then he has the nerve to act like Blythe is out of line or reading the situation wrong when she asked for a bed divorce.
Sure, whatever, Don. If you were really going to choose Blythe as you said, then we wouldn’t be here in the first place.

And finally, we need to talk about Ryan Phillippe. His entire introduction as Rogue was so cheesy and had me rolling my eyes every time he was on screen. But because this is 911: Nashville, it works for this world. I also like Don getting a little pushback in multiple facets of his life from Rogue. The first one being his son Ryan fawning over this new guy. And the second one would be this new guy clocking that there’s a divide in the marriage between Blythe and Don. It’s delightful. And I feel like Rogue is us by pointing things out.
At the same time, I do want to defend New York City. Because Rogue comes in all hot and heavy about all the negative things about New York City and how he’s moving to Nashville because it’s a city on the rise. Girl, you just dealt with murder hornets and now have a suspect who is committing biblical crimes. Looks to me like Nashville is just as messy as NYC. Just not as many skyscrapers.
Overall, 911: Nashville Season 2 Episode 1 “Going Rogue” is a silly and intriguing beginning to another spin-off season about first responders. And it would be even more interesting if Rogue becomes Blythe’s love interest… after a divorce, of course. She’s not Don after all!
