9-1-1: Nashville Season 2 Episode 4 “In Cold Blood” had absolutely too much Dixie and not enough of the actual characters or mystery that was introduced in the opening emergency. Because I thought that this whole snakes on a plane thing was going to be a fun little emergency that would lead us a little bit more immediately to who The Pharaoh is. Instead, it was a way of giving Dixie everything that she wanted despite all the bad she’s done.
Honestly, it feels like 9-1-1: Nashville is trying to erase or make us forget everything that Dixie did in Season 1. Personally, I’m not here for that. And this isn’t totally about Blythe either. Are we going to forget how she manipulated Blue? That boy was under her thumb and believed some truly horrible things about himself, his father, and the life that they lived because of her. And then 9-1-1: Nashville had a Blue on the side supporting his mother like nothing.

Though points to Blue for begging his mother not to give out Blythe’s name. Unfortunately, she did because this is Dixie we’re talking about.
This whole continued Dixie being mad at Blythe for taking away her man in “In Cold Blood” is boring. At what point in 9-1-1: Nashville is Dixie going to take some responsibility? Because we saw moments in Season 1 where she understood the consequences of her actions. Or at least there was a glimmer of understanding. But in Season 2, she’s just acting like it’s business as usual: Blythe stole her man, and Blythe’s the reason why she didn’t make it big in Country. The only person responsible for your problems, Dixie, is you.
Making the whole conflict between Dixie and Blythe about Don is also just plain boring. Here you have these two complicated and powerful women nipping at each other for a man. That’s why once again I’m asking for Don to actually get some consequences for not shutting Dixie down time and time again. And you know now that Dixie called out Blythe, our girl is going to be the one fixing this mess once again. But 9-1-1: Nashville has surprised me before, so maybe Don will step up.

If anything, the most interesting part of “In Cold Blood” was Rogue and Ryan.
I don’t know if 9-1-1: Nashville meant for the chemistry between Rogue and Ryan to be so electric, but it is. There’s this tension in the air when they’re together that doesn’t speak of mentor and mentee. There’s a spark of more that I know isn’t going to be explored because apparently Rogue is mourning his dead ex-wife and Ryan is married and about to have a baby. Plus, if 9-1-1 isn’t putting together Buck and Eddie after 9 seasons together, what hope do Rogue and Ryan have?
But back to 9-1-1: Nashville.
There’s also this shyness about Rogue and Ryan where they kind of don’t know how to work around each other. And it’s because they intrigue each other. You can totally see that when Ryan goes to help Rogue, they have a little disagreement, and then Ryan walks out. You can see it again later on when Rogue goes to apologize to Ryan. And it makes me wonder if 9-1-1: Nashville is testing out a career change for Ryan with Rogue as the avenue.
Either way, I’m liking the addition of Rogue now, even if he’s super cheesy half the time. He really shot that snake like nothing, or like this was some sort of Western. And there’s the gravelly voice on top. But he adds something fun to the show that fits in with the ridiculous nature of Nashville. We just need to figure out who The Pharaoh is and end it. Because “In Cold Blood” also makes it crystal clear that their biblical crimes weren’t the opening emergency at all. They were just a way to bring in the cop element to match up with what they’re doing on the mothership show.
9-1-1: Nashville airs Thursdays at 8/7c on ABC.
Sick of Dixie storyline, if it continues im done with this show
Truly. I feel like they don’t know what to do with her. And I’m sick and tired of her blaming Blythe for everything. Owe up to your life!
