There’s a very direct line between medical procedurals and law procedurals. So it’s not really a surprise that The Good Doctor is doing a backdoor pilot for a possible spinoff, which is likely to be called The Good Lawyer. It’s also no surprise to see Nancy Drew‘s Kennedy McMann look right at home interacting with Freddie Highmore. But it is intriguing, we’re not going to lie. There are a lot of police procedurals out there, and not as many straight-up legal ones these days. So, we’re not saying no.
Of course, it’s probably best not to get too excited yet. The Good Doctor has yet to be renewed for Season 7 and The Good Lawyer has yet to be picked up to series. But, with McMann saying goodbye to Nancy Drew, whose final season beings airing on the CW on May 31st, this isn’t just a great chance to see her do something different, but also to, hopefully start a new path for her.
We’ll be watching..
The synopsis for the episode reads: Dr. Shaun Murphy seeks legal representation to help him win a case and puts his faith in a promising, young lawyer who has obsessive-compulsive disorder.
