9-1-1 returned this week from winter break, and, as usual, the show wasted no time jumping into drama. “In a Flash” gave us so much drama with a strange storm, a weird Buckley/Han family reunion, and a scary ending that left us feeling really nervous. Let’s review.
One Big Happy Family?
Maddie and Chimney invite the Buckley’s over for dinner at their new house. As we remember, Maddie and Buck don’t have the best relationship with their parents, and Maddie was understandably nervous. But their parents were actually really nice and seemed to enjoy spending time with their kids and granddaughter. But of course this was too good to be true.
Albert decided to bring their dad and Margaret along which doesn’t really make Chim happy. He has a complicated relationship with his dad, but his father really wants to have a relationship with his granddaughter, and he does seem like he’s trying. We were NOT okay with how he told everyone how he felt about Buck being a sperm donor. It really isn’t any of Phillip’s business how Buck handles his personal life. But Philip did apologize so maybe there is hope for a big happy Buckley/Han family. Stranger things have happened. Of course, events later in the episode might affect this family’s happiness. Which leads us to the next part of the episode:

Will Buck Survive the Lightning Storm?
A lightning storm this week caused a lot of damage. And so many injuries. The first incident in “In a Flash” was definitely something we’ve never seen before with lightning hitting sand which turned it to glass and seriously injured the dad who was buried in the sand. We hope he survived, but considering how many arteries were cut and how much blood he lost, we’re not so sure.
The storm continued for the entire episode and led to the 118 trying to save people from a burning building. Buck gets on the ladder like he always does, but unfortunately, he’s struck by lightning. Listen writers: we don’t like watching Buck hang lifelessly from the ladder. We also don’t like seeing Eddie and the rest of the team worry about him. And we really don’t like hearing that Buck is in full cardiac arrest! The writers wouldn’t kill Buck off, would they? Do they know how much we love Buck? If he dies, the 118 will never be the same. And we’ll never recover.
Other Thoughts:
- We’re sorry, but we laughed so hard at the woman screaming. We’re sure that going into labor in a storm and having a stranger drive you to the hospital is really terrible and we felt for her. But the actress definitely has a nice set of lungs on her. It was the best screaming we’ve seen on TV in a while. But we are relieved that she and her baby both survived the crash and the storm.
- Maddie and Athena make an excellent undercover team. We’re very impressed with Maddie’s undercover skills, and we hope that she can discover what these people at the rehab center are hiding. Wendell deserves justice and Bobby needs closure. And these people need to be stopped before they hurt anyone else.
- We’re worried about Hen’s son. He’s talking to his father in secret, and we have a feeling that this won’t end well.
