Anne of Green Gables fans, it’s coming! We have a date! I repeated, we have an Anne premiere date!
It’s official – the Netflix adaptation of the beloved children’s book will premiere on May 12th.
The series is based on Lucy Maud Montgomery’s beloved book series, originally published in 1908, which has been an inspiration for countless of young men and women around the world.
Montgomery wrote not one, but eight books featuring her famous heroine.
When we first meet Anne she’s a young orphaned girl who’s sent to live with an elderly spinster and her brother by mistake. Soon, she wins these two, the town, and pretty much anyone who meets her, over.
The series follows Anne’s life, marriage, and later, goes on to focus on her adult kids – particularly in the last book of the series, titled: Rilla of Ingleside.
No news yet as to whether the series will span more than one book, though it’s easy to assume that all depends on the reception the adaptation gets. For now, season 1 is slated to have eight episodes.
Here’s the video Netflix released to announce the date:
Are you excited? I’m excited. I’m terrified. Can they do it justice? Will they? Hopefully the answer to that is yes!
Remember, don’t call her carrots!
Anne will be available to stream on Netflix on May 12th, 2017.
