We keep asking the Star Wars universe to raise their standards, and if the possibility of Thandie Newton joining the young Han Solo movie is any indication, they might be listening.
Variety reports that Newton, who’s been on everyone’s radar after her turn as Maeve in Westworld, a role which earned her supporting actress nominations for both the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards, would take an unspecified role in the film.
Aka, they just don’t want to give us any hints about the possible plot, so they’re keeping everything under wraps, lest we guess.
She would join Newton would join Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Woody Harrelson as an as-yet-unnamed mentor, and Emilia Clarke as another mystery character. Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the star of the Amazon series Fleabag, has recently reported to be playing a performance-capture character.
No details on the plot yet – though the movie is expected to follow Han Solo before he met up with Luke Skywalker and became part of the Rebellion.
Phil Lord and Chris Miller are set to direct the film, which already started filming.
The movie, which doesn’t yet have an official name, already has a release date – May 25, 2018.
