When it comes to time travel, Legends of Tomorrow is one of those shows that has embraced the fun element while also delivering some really great emotional moments to give audiences a connection with these characters. It was something that it had to learn after a rough freshman season, but it was able to not only better itself, it established itself as one of the best DCTV shows.
We spoke with Legends of Tomorrow executive producer Phil Klemmer at San Diego Comic-Con last month, where he previewed what we can expect as the latest twist in time travel for our Legends, as well as how the show really hit its stride in season 2.
Over the course of two seasons, our Legends of Tomorrow have traveled through time in an attempt to save it. More often than they’d like, they accidentally messed with time only to have to go back and fix it. Well, we can expect more of the same as we head into season 3 – only with a new twist.
“The idea of these Anarchronisms, we imagine history is like a puzzle that got shaken up and little bits of it went and they fell in the wrong spot,” Klemmer said. “So, it sort of intensifies the notion of last year where you had these little tears to history that had to be repaired. Now, you have Julius Caesar showing up on a beach in Aruba. And there’s two sides to the equation: We have to get Julius Caesar then we have to get him back to 49 B.C., then we have to reinsert him into his original timeline. It’s spinning plates.”
