If you aren’t familiar with the name Zoraida Cordova, you need to be. The author has one of the most amazing and unique voices in YA and we’re obsessed with her writing. Her book, Labyrinth Lost, is one of the best books we read last year.
And it’s got a new cover.
We’re loving the simplicity and and yet how it tells a story. Also released was the cover to the second book in the Brooklyn Brujas series – Bruja Born. Now I know what you’re asking yourself – did I have to read the first one?
Truth is it works as a standalone and a sequel. But you want to read the first one.

Bruja Born doesn’t continue to focus on Alex, but instead, Alex’s older sister, Lula Mortiz. Lula feels like an outsider and she knows that she’s got these powers – healing powers – but still feels like an outsider to her family. She’s struggling. She wants to feel important, but doesn’t.
She’s got a boyfriend, who she loves deeply, and he’s keeping her sane. However, he dies in a tragic accident and she devises a plan to bring him back from the dead. There is just too much that can go wrong in this situation and it does.
