When Caitlin Snow was introduced on The Flash, comic book fans had an inkling of where her journey would ultimately take her. The only thing that’s changed is the how she got to the point in Season 3, when we saw her become the persona of Killer Frost.
Last season, we found Caitlin learning to balance the two sides of herself: Caitlin Snow, valuable member of Team Flash, and Killer Frost, a dangerous alter ego with desires of her own. Along the way, we found these two sides grow fond of each other before DeVoe used an ability to swap people’s DNA effectively making Killer Frost no more.
If Danielle Panabaker has it her way, she wants to explore the “killer” side of Killer Frost this upcoming season.
“I feel like halfway through season 4 they forgot about Killer Frost,” Danielle Panabaker told us during a roundtable interview at San Diego Comic-Con. “I’m excited for this season to get to explore how she came to be a little bit more. As far as I’m concerned, we haven’t actually seen her be the ‘killer’ of Killer Frost. I’d like to explore everything and get to see her really be the bad guy.”
Through the first four seasons of The Flash, we’ve seen that Caitlin Snow is certainly a woman unlucky in love. From losing Ronnie Raymond to realizing that Jay Garrick wasn’t the man she thought he was, Caitlin has had it rough on the love side of things. Which is what made it so refreshing to watch Caitlin more focused on herself than another man.
“I really liked that in season 4 she didn’t have a love interest,” Panabaker said. “Her storyline totally revolved around her issues and stuff she was dealing with. I think having a split personality is enough to keep you busy.”
Watch our interview with Panabaker below, where she discusses directing an episode of The Flash this season, Caitlin and Iris’ relationship, Caitlin’s journey, and more.
The Flash season 5 premieres Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 8/7c on The CW.
