I am feeling a little overwhelmed a the news that someone wants to make a Nancy Drew TV show. Why? Because every single time you turn around someone seems to want to make one, so how are we ever supposed to believe that one will happen for real.
The reality, we’re not. But I’ll bite, The CW. I will bite.
According to Deadline, there is a new series based on the Nancy Drew novels in development by The CW.
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (Gossip Girl, The CW’s Dynasty reboot) are developing the project, which will be written by Noga Landau (The Magicians).
Now, I am a huge fan of Gossip Girl – despite the ending that I thought was bullshit – so I am always interested in anything that Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage develop. However, I want a kick ass Nancy Drew. Not this prim and proper shit that I’ve seen in the past. I want a Nancy Drew that I can relate to.
I want an Nancy Drew that has grown up.
The CBS version failed to be picked up to series. The NBC version died in the water. Who knows what the hell will happen with this version. But we will wait and see.
