There’s plenty of excitement within The DC Universe, which has already churned out Titans and Doom Patrol on its digital platform, and soon to add SyFy’s Krypton. But perhaps one of the more anticipated series is Stargirl, which will have a new take on the comic classic.
The DC Universe certainly made its presence known at WonderCon on Friday, with casting announcements and news for Titans and Doom Patrol. They also dropped the first look at Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore, aka Stargirl.
Depicted in a costume that’s straight out of the comics, Stargirl wields her Cosmic Staff in her hand as her sidekick S.T.R.I.P.E. appears — partially — in the background.
The series will follow “high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new drama reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in an unpredictable series.”
Originally slated for a late 2019 release, Stargirl will arrive in early 2020. DC Universe’s Stargirl stars Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore (Stargirl), Joel McHale as Sylvester Pemberton (Starman), Brian Stapf as Ted Grant (Wildcat), Lou Ferringo Jr. as Rex Tyler (Hourman) and Meg DeLacy as Cindy Burman, with Anjelika Washington, Yvette Monreal and Christopher James Baker as undisclosed DC characters.
