I know that there a lot of people that are excited about the High School Musical television show that is coming to Disney+. I am not one of them.
Hear me out.
High School Musical was one of the defining movie series of it’s time. It’s like ummm – The Breakfast Club, Dirty Dancing, 16 Candles. They are movies that remade by anyone else lose what made them special in the first place. They were movies made for a certain time. They were movies made for a certain moment.
And that moment is timeless.
As is High School Musical.
Now, I am not hating on Disney and their want to make money. Hell, that’s the way of the world. They know that there are people that will forever hang on the series, recite it’s words, and sing it’s music. But that doesn’t mean that you have to remake it. That means that you make it sustain times.
But I may be in the minority here and I hope that I am proven wrong.
The trailer was released at D23 and the internet has been going crazy with excitement.
