‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ Is in Production

Thanks to a hilarious takeover of Marvel Studios’ Instagram account, Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier) and Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson/The Falcon) announced that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has started filming.

The two actors took over the account to share the exciting news that their Marvel show, which will stream on Disney+ in the Fall of 2020, is now in production.

The videos start with Anthony Mackie thinking he is the captain of the takeover, saying, “It’s Falcon all day.” However, things take a turn for the comical, as they usually do when Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan are paired up, when Mackie realizes that Sebastian is a part of the takeover as well.

Sebastian called the purpose for his takeover “a very special announcement,” and even proved so by whipping off his sunglasses. Sebastian boasted that he has been “around for a longer time” in the MCU, which gives him the right to takeover the Instagram account.

Then the two actors came together to make their announcement. But first, Mackie and Stan disagreed about the grammar of the sentence at hand. Eventually they harmoniously cheered, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier are in production NOW.”

The Instagram videos were such a fun way to announce a project many Marvel fans have been looking forward to since it was a twinkle in Kevin Feige’s eye. The videos also played up the iconic dynamic Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan have shared with the world since around the time Captain America: The Winter Soldier was released.

Even with Anthony Mackie’s behind the scenes tweet, there is still so much to anticipate about The Falcon and the Winter Solider. What will it be like to finally see The Falcon in his new suit, sporting that infamous shield? Selfishly, I can’t help but to be excited about Bucky’s new look, if Sebastian’s hair is any sign of how the Winter Solider will present himself in the show. What has Sharon Carter been up to all this time? We’ve missed her. How will Baron Zemo, the infamous antagonist from Civil War, play into the adventures of Sam and Bucky?

Do you think this is the way Marvel will continue to announce projects in the future? Does this mean we’ll eventually get Instagram videos starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany announcing the production of WandaVision? If so, count us in!

Marvel fans, are you ready for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier? The end of the year is just around the corner now, which means 2020 can bring us fun resolutions and a few Marvel shows streaming on Disney+.
