Taylor Swift is inspirational for many reasons. She’s strong, fierce, talented, devoted and she puts family first.
Last week she was interviewed by host Zane Lowe of Beats 1 radio. In the interview with Lowe, Taylor talked a little bit about why she isn’t doing a huge tour for Lover.
“Change happens not only in my career, but in my life,” Taylor said. “And I’ve got some pretty intense things happening with my family right now. I can’t go on long tours and not have the ability to go home if I need to. I have priorities that aren’t just touring now, and [the fans] have been really respectful of that in the past.”
“This is where the rubber meets the road and I actually have to make decisions,” Taylor added. “Where there are question marks in my life and things that are really important to me and my family, I have to be able to have some breathing room in my touring schedule and I think they kind of understand that.”
She didn’t come out and say anything about it in the interview, but you may remember that her Mom, Andrea Swift was previously diagnosed with cancer, and earlier this year Taylor wrote about her Mom’s cancer returning in an article for Elle.
“Both of my parents have had cancer, and my mom is now fighting her battle with it again,” Taylor wrote in the piece that was the 30 Things I Learned Before Turning 30 piece. “It’s taught me that there are real problems and then there’s everything else. My mom’s cancer is a real problem. I used to be so anxious about daily ups and downs. I give all of my worry, stress, and prayers to real problems now.”
To be honest, we’re lucky that Taylor is even doing any shows, and we’re thankful as fuck she is. Family comes first and we’d understand if she took time for herself.
Her Lover Fest East & West shows will play at Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles on July 25, 2020, and July 26, 2020, and Gillette Stadium in Boston on July 31, 2020, and August 1, 2020.
Will you be going?
