This week’s episode of 9-1-1, “Powerless”, made me feel every emotion possible. I’m not sure how you can laugh, cry and feel scared, worried, and relieved all in an hour, but 9-1-1 does it almost every week.
At the end of last week’s episode Athena realized the guy with the drone, the “Peeping Tom,” was a serial rapist who somehow got out of police custody. How exactly does that happen? Actually, don’t answer that because I’m not sure I want to know how often that happens in real life. Athena locates the guy, but before back-up can come to help, the rapist attacks her.
It was heartbreaking to watch the 118 and the 9-1-1 call center listen to Athena fight for her life as they were helpless. I felt awful for everyone especially Bobby. Luckily, Athena survives, and they’re able to capture the rapist. Hope he enjoys life in jail.
I liked that we got to see Athena in the hospital with her daughter. It was so sweet that her daughter still wanted to take a picture with her before prom. Her daughter didn’t care what Athena looked like; she just knows she loves her mom and that her mom is a hero.
One of the other stories this week was about Hen. Karen thinks Hen’s cheating on her and goes to Chimney for help. Of course, Hen isn’t cheating on her. She met with the surgeon to talk about going to med school. I had a feeling that Hen might consider becoming a doctor after last week. I wonder how this would affect the show. Would she still be a part of the team? Would we get to see her at the hospital? It’s something to think about. It would definitely shake things up. Chimney looked sad when he realized he might not be working with Hen much longer.
At the end of “Powerless” Maddie gets a call about a train crash. It’s a mass casualty situation, but the woman sounds like she knows what she’s doing. And, of course, she does. It’s Abby. I’m very interested to see what she’s been doing since she left her job and Buck. I love Connie Britton, but I’m somewhat hesitant about her return. I don’t want Buck to get hurt again. He’s been through enough. Please, Abby, don’t break his heart again.
Other Thoughts:
- I thought it was hilarious that they played “Ice Ice Baby” while the team rescued the guy trapped in the freezer. This show always knows how to make me laugh.
- It was so funny watching Chimney try to talk to Hen after he and Karen had been drinking. Maddie wanted him to stop talking before he made a fool of himself.
What do you think will happen next week during the finale? I have a feeling it’s going to be crazy. I hope everyone survives and no one gets seriously injured, but this is 9-1-1 so that might be a little too much to ask.
