I will die on the hill that Normal People is one of the best shows of this past year and yet, I know people will take that and say that there wasn’t a lot of shit that came out this year.
I am aware that we are in a pandemic.
But I will still die on this hill, because this show was life changing. It opened all of our lives to the possibilities of love, heartache, smiles, and pain in all its forms.
And that is part of the reason that it was so great is that it comes from amazing source material. Sally Rooney wrote an amazing book.
So, it is no surprise that Hulu gave a straight to series order to Rooney’s next book that is being adapted. Her 2017 novel, Conversations With Friends, will be coming to the streaming service.
It will be a 12-part series, which the BBC previously committed to earlier in the year, and Hulu just agreed to.
Conversations with Friends follows two female college students in Dublin who forge an unexpected, strange and sexually charged relationship with an older married couple, which results in a complicated pair of love triangles that upends their lives.
Love is always complicated and no one writes it like Rooney.
We’re excited for this one and can’t wait to see Rooney’s work brought to life.
