DC’s Stargirl has been renewed for a second season, which will air exclusively on The CW. The Justice Society of America is sticking around! That’s right, TVLine reported that the DC series was renewed for a second season.
The CW ordered the pickup, not DC Universe. Stargirl‘s first season streams on DC Universe every Monday and airs on The CW Tuesday nights at 8/7c. Season 2 will exclusively air on The CW and will stream the following day on the network’s app.
Stargirl’s renewal isn’t entirely shocking. TVLine also reported that the series pulls in nearly a million viewers on The CW every week. This doesn’t even include how many stream the series on DC Universe.
Fans have fallen in love with Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore/Stargirl and the rest of the incredible ensemble cast, including Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan/Stripsey and Anjelika Washington as Beth Chapel/Dr. Mid-Nite.
The news of Stargirl exclusively airing on The CW isn’t too farfetched either. DC Universe has experienced quite a few changes recently. DC Universe now shares Doom Patrol with HBO Max. The smash-hit, animated series Harley Quinn will be available on HBO Max soon, too.
That being said, Stargirl’s renewal is welcome news! This show proves the world can always use more superheroes, and they don’t all have to be adults. There is a power and passion in a new generation of heroes.
Season 1 continues this week with Stargirl Season 1 Episode 8, “Shiv Part Two.” You can catch up with our review of Stargirl Season 1 Episode 7, “Shive Part One,” right here.
You can also stream the entire season so far on DC Universe. The last 5 episodes are available on The CW’s app.
