Yes, the coronavirus is coming to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Like that hospital hasn’t already seen enough.
“We’re going to address this pandemic for sure. There’s no way to be a long-running medical show and not do the medical story of our lifetimes,” show-runner Krista Vernoff confirmed during a Television Academy panel. And, I mean, I guess it makes sense ….even though, at this point, we have long moved past the point of what else can happen to these people?
There was a plane crash.
A gunman.
That explosion. George getting hit by a bus. Derek getting hit by a car.
And so on.
“I feel like our show has an opportunity and a responsibility to tell some of those stories,” Vernoff added. “Our conversations have been constantly about how we keep alive humor and romance while we tell these really painful stories.”
Valid, I guess. It’s just that, at this point, the only shocking thing to come to Grey Sloane Memorial Hospital would be some happiness.
