One of the most powerful books that I have read this year is Katherine Schwarzenegger‘s book, The Gift of Forgiveness. The book examines forgiveness in all of its forms, and how it can change you. It examines how people have forgiven those in their lives and how it has helped them.
Forgiveness is a powerful gift for a person to give themselves.
Jessica Simpson was on the podcast that Katherine has, all about forgiveness and talked about forgiving her abuser. If you’ve read Jessica’s book, Open Book, Jessica talks in there about being abused by a family friend.

“I went to her and I just said, ‘I know you know what was going on and I know that you were being abused,’ because she was being abused by an older guy,” Jessica explained on the podcast. “He was always there at the house as well, so he never touched me, but he would abuse her and she would come to me and do the stuff to me and so, like in so many ways I felt bad for her and I was allowing the abuse to happen.”
Wow. I couldn’t do that. I would hope that at a certain point in my life that I am able to break free and do something like that for myself, but I am not there yet.
Jessica forgave her abuser and went on to say, “‘I just want you to know that I forgive you and I don’t really care to be around you that much ever again, but I do want you to know that I know what happened between us and I’m not gonna live in denial about it.’”
The podcast was absolutely fantastic and you should definitely listen. You can find it HERE.
