I could not imagine being Meghan Markle. People are cruel to her for the sake of being cruel. They don’t know her, they hate her because of who she married, and they treat her as if she has no feelings.
She’s truly the most trolled person in the world, and it’s not okay.
Meghan and Harry were recently Teenage Therapy podcast and talked about the online abuse that she endured since marrying into the Royal Family.
“Yes it’s a great way to connect, but it also ends up being a place where there’s a lot of disconnection,” Meghan said on the podcast, which is hosted by 5 seniors from Anaheim, California. “I can speak personally too, I’m told that in 2019 I was the most trolled person in the entire world, male or female.”
“Now, 8 months of that I wasn’t even visible — I was on maternity leave or with a baby. But what was able to be manufactured and churned out, it’s almost unsurvivable.” she added. She was pregnant with son Archie that year. I can’t even imagine what it was like with all of the pregnancy hormones and people destroying that joy in her life. It’s disgusting.
“I don’t care if you’re 15 or you’re 25, if people are saying things about you that aren’t true, what that does to your mental and emotional health is so damaging,” Meghan said.
“Vulnerability is not a weakness, showing vulnerability in today’s world especially is a strength,” Harry, the Duke of Sussex, said. “The more we talk about it the more it becomes normal, and it is normal.”
It goes to show you that no matter who you are – words can hurt. Feelings get hurt. Words matter.
