American Gods has been a ride since day one. And we’re talking on screen and behind the scenes, the show being known for its wild storylines but also wild changes on who is cast to take on its characters or write them. With the trailer for season 3 finally here, we’re left with more questions than answers. So, since American Gods doesn’t return til early 2021, here are 5 questions we need answered asap!
1. How long has it been since Shadow has been on his own?
Last we left off everyone and their mother was trying to get out of Cairo after being painted as a so called terrorist by Media and Tech Boy’s combined powers. In the books, Shadow lays low in a town called Lakeside. From the trailer, we’re following that same path out of Cairo. But how long has it been that Shadow now has a head full of hair? How long has he been on his own? And who finds him to bring him back in?

2. What the hell has Mr. Wednesday been up to?
The events of season 2 of American Gods hasn’t slowed down Mr. Wednesday. (Yes, I’m still going to call him that because why the hell not.) If anything, he’s more energized, more ready to figure out how he can survive in a world that no longer worships him. Also, he’s looking hella slim. Maybe that’s what being on the run does to you. But what else has he been up to and who has he brought to his side in the fight against the New Gods and Mr. World?

3. How is Laura Moon going to bring Mad Sweeney back to life?
This is honestly the most interesting part of the American Gods season 3 trailer. And yes, it’s because I ship this shit show to the moon and back. I don’t think Laura has cared for someone the way she cares for Mad Sweeney since caring for Shadow. Hell, maybe even more than Shadow because she’s risking her life to save him from death in a way she never did for her ex-husband. Could this be the thing that sets her life on a new path? Would she give up her life for his? From what we’ve seen the answer could be yes.

4. What the hell is Danny Trejo doing on American Gods?
It’s a question I always ask myself when Danny Trejo appears on my screen. What the hell is he doing there and what role is he taking on in the world of American Gods. Whatever is happening, I’m down for it. Especially if it means having more Latinos in the shows I enjoy watching.

5. What’s going to happen with our boy Salim?
Salim is in the trailer, even if for a brief moment. But what does it all mean, especially when we know that the Jinn actor wasn’t asked back for season 3? Could Salim have his own path in the crazy world of American Gods? Will he reunite with Shadow Moon and help out with whatever madness Mr. Wednesday has dragged him into? Idk, but I’m ready for it all!

American Gods returns early 2021 on Starz.
