I think that this year has been hard for all of us. It’s been a year of isolation, anger, loneliness, confusion, and so many more emotions. I just feel like every emotion you can feel you’ve done this year.
Personally, I have experienced bouts of depression that has crippled me. I know that I am not the only one.
Selena Gomez has been open about her mental health and the actress/singer/all around bad ass talked about how the pandemic has affected her. In conversation with Dr. Vivek Murthy, the former Surgeon General, on Instagram Live, she had a very open and honest conversation about how she was doing.
“In the beginning, I couldn’t deal with it that well. I kind of went into a bit of a depression,” she explained, “My job is a lot of travel, connecting with people, making people happy, and that makes me happy, so it has been a struggle.”
Selena did say that she was feeling better now.
“Slowly, towards the end, I found thing things I’m doing are coming out, and that was extremely exciting for me. I’ve worked on personal things like a beauty line that has a goal of reaching $100 million in 10 years for mental health,” she shared on the Instagram live.
She continued, “So I would say right now, I’m fully coming out again and I just think I had to handle it the way I needed to handle it, and got through it with the right people and doing the right things and doing the right steps to not make me go crazy.”
We admire Selena and her commitment to mental health, as well as her relatability to all those out there. We thank her for sharing her story.
