I have to admit, that lately I am loving Demi Lovato more and more. The singer has always been outspoken but lately she’s been on a whole different level of outspoken, and that shit is inspirational. She doesn’t apologize for being who she is and we love that.
Because she’s using her platform and voice to make change. She’s using her platform to push for change, support others and talk about politics. Her song Commander in Chief was released and she’s been talking a lot about the upcoming election.
Demi spoke with CNN and talked about celebs speaking out about their beliefs.
“You’re damned if you do, you’re damned if you don’t. You can list Taylor Swift as a perfect example of that exact saying,” Demi said when talking about famous people saying things about their stance on things. “For years she got trashed because she wasn’t taking a stance and wasn’t standing up for these rights and she kind of took a back seat. Now she’s become very political and there are people that are unhappy with that too.”
She continued, “It’s just, like, you have to live what feels authentic to you. To me, that’s using my platform to speak out about the things that I see that are wrong.”
Demi’s received quite a bit of feedback about speaking out about her beliefs, but we’re thankful that she has.
