Halloween is so close! That means pumpkins, decorations, and a kind of mist shrouded in mystery. In this time of supernatural beings, magic and terror, it is the ideal time to review our list of Scariest Villains on TV.
Here we go!
Jack Randall ~ ‘Outlander’

One of the biggest villains on TV is ‘Black’ Jack Randall. Those of us who watch Outlander shudder just reading the name. He is a psychopath who enjoys human suffering. He rapes, kills, tortures and mutilates mercilessly and simply on a whim, because he enjoys it, and he feels arousal at seeing the damage he causes. It excites him to break people physically but, above all, mentally. And he does everything with the approval of his protectors who seem to me just as despicable as he. He doesn’t have a human side. We glimpsed a bit of that with his brother Alex, but I think he just doesn’t have that human side because he’s not human. He’s the definition of monster.
Adrian Chase ~ ‘Arrow’

Everyone who knows me knows that I love Arrow. Adrian Chase had to be on this list. Another psychopath who believes that revenge for the death of his father at the hands of Oliver justifies his means to break him. He wants Oliver to lose absolutely everything and be destroyed, as destroyed as he feels. Chase managed to put Oliver through unimaginable pain and made him face his worst demons and the ugliest truths about himself.
Rowan Pope ~ ‘Scandal’

A father who can be nominated for villain of the year. Rowan is a very complex character who makes many morally questionable decisions every day. Those decisions make him something of a darker antihero than we’re used to. These decisions have been part of Rowan’s life since before Olivia was born and, for him, she is just one of his many achievements, of his many successes, she is not his daughter, she’s simply a milestone in his career. Therefore, for him, if she cannot be in his life, no one else can have her.
Cercei Lannister ~ ‘Game Of Thrones’

I don’t think it is necessary to introduce Cercei. She has been pulling the strings of Game of Thrones from the beginning. She has killed, she has manipulated, she has ordered to be killed, she has been cruel in every possible way, she has endured the murder of her children … all for power. Everything, to be able to sit on the Iron Throne and be the queen of all Westeros. And, with that, to be able to take revenge on everyone who hurt or turned their backs on her at some point, including Jamie, despite the fact that she loves him (in a sick way, because it is the only way she knows how to love).
Slade ~ ‘Arrow’

I’m aware that it is the second time that an Arrow villain appears on this list, but it could not be otherwise. Slade is remembered as one of the best villains in the series. He was the first to truly push Oliver to the limit and he attacked all the people Oliver truly loved. He was the first that made Oliver confront the ghosts of the past (Slade himself was one of them) and his own guilt for everything he had lived through. And he did it in the most violent and heartbreaking way possible.
The Gormogon ~ ‘Bones’

This villain was a nightmare for the team for a long time. He was not only a serial killer but he was also a cannibal and it broke the team when it was discovered that Zack, Brennan’s intern and a beloved member of the team, was his accomplice. He still gives us chills a few years later.
Twelve Monkeys Army ~ ‘12 Monkeys’

I just started watching this show thanks to my Fangirlish partner Lizzie, and I have already realized that this army is a chilling foe to beat. They are a kind of fanatics about dominating the world and changing it forever to something that they consider better and, for that, they are willing to kidnap or kill whoever is necessary. What is scarier than fanatics who believe that the end justifies the means?
The Reborn ~ ‘Wynonna Earp’

Demons returning from hell to take revenge on the hunter who killed them? It’s the definition of a scary villain. The Reborn had to be here. They possess people and make them do horrible things and their only mission is to kill whoever sent them to hell in the first place, no matter what they have to do to get it. With creepy red eyes and everything.
Ramsay Bolton ~ ‘Game Of Thrones’

I know, I know, he’s the second Game Of Thrones villain to make this list, but I think he deserved a spot all on his own. There’re actually a lot of characters on this show who deserve a spot here, including Joffrey. Ramsay’s accomplishments include the torture and mutilation of Theon and the rape of Sansa (something that never happens in the books and I won’t forgive the show for showing it), among many other murders, torture, cruelties and mutilations.
The Dark Lord and Father Blackwood ~ ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’

The Dark Lord starts out as the Lord that the witches and warlocks of the School of the Night pay tribute to, but ends up being the villain of the story when he forces Lilith to manipulate Sabrina and, in the end, tries to force her to reign in hell next to him.
As for Father Blackwood, he started out as a macho High Priest of the Church of the Night, but his machismo led him to an absolutely crazy fanaticism that led him to form an organization of men as macho as him, in addition, to trying to kill and humiliate his daughter and even killing a large part of the coven by poisoning them.
