National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is a classic Christmas movie to me. It is one that is on my list to watch every year, along with Elf, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Now, from those choices alone, you can probably tell I’m not much of a sappy person. The only exception to the rule for sap, is Hallmark movies, but that is for another time.
STORY TIME

Now, not everyone has probably seen or even heard of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. So, I will give you the official summary curtsey of Rotten Tomatoes.
“As the holidays approach, Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) wants to have a perfect family Christmas, so he pesters his wife, Ellen (Beverly D’Angelo), and children, as he tries to make sure everything is in line, including the tree and house decorations. However, things go awry quickly. His hick cousin, Eddie (Randy Quaid), and his family show up unplanned and start living in their camper on the Griswold property. Even worse, Clark’s employers renege on the holiday bonus he needs.”
You can rent or buy National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation from Amazon Prime Video. It will almost certainly be on frequently during the holiday’s on TV if you want to wait and watch it for free.
WHY I LOVE IT
This, to me, is a classic holiday movie. It might be because I grew up with it and it has become a tradition over the years. However, there are a lot of funny moments in it as well. I like to laugh during movies and comedies are probably my favorite.

It’s not the cast that keeps me coming back to it every year. It’s the feelings and the memories I get every time I watch it. I remember sitting in my grandma’s basement when I was younger with my family as we all laughed and spent time together. Now, we are all scattered across the country on the holiday’s, so its nice to reminisce.
