10 LGBTQ+ Instagram Poets to Check Out This November

In an effort to build a space for queer people like myself, every Tuesday I’ll be posting interviews, opinion pieces, listicals, reviews, and more focused on the LGBT community (and occasionally about the Latinx/WOC community since I am Latinx.) Welcome to Queerly Not Straight! Enjoy and leave a comment below if you have a suggestion for what I should cover next.

Instagram is a treasure trove of some of the most creative minds out there. And while some play pranks and some take creative pictures, some truly gifted people out there create beauty with their words. We’re talking poetry here. For the next couple of months, or until I get tired of it all, we’re going to be recommending some of the best LGBTQ+ poetry on Instagram, including my own. So, make sure to read, follow, and leave them some love to keep these creators hydrated and writing!

books that make you Trans Gender in the 7th grade. not my fav poem but thought it'd be a fun pair to my one abt fight club photo ID: [POEM IN WHICH THE POET TRIES TO GET BLOCKED ON TWITTER BY S.E. HINTON silas denver melvin mouse-mouthed boy turned criminal crying turned loose & on the run. what is more queer than that? to be cast out. to be dragged through the suffering of adolescence by the hair. boys like this cannot breathe water. always bringing their shoes to the step, wet with mischief. boys passing between quivering lips the smoldering butt of a cigarette. what is more intimate than that? to share the ashy kiss of cancer-death like an impossible promise. to place a mouth where his once was & almost be able to gather that little warmth he leaves behind. a million moments presented on trial: guilty of halving sunsets with observation. polishing each other, silent, until made shiny. admiration ripe until rotting, pierced, unspoken. boys huddled together in the lot, on the couch, under the church pews, their sinner hands just out of reach, just beyond the watchful eye of an unforgiving god.]
