A lot is going on. All the time. Everywhere. And we publish a lot of content every week, some of it breaking news, other more editorial stuff, as well as reviews and teases of shows and movies to come. We understand you can’t always be on top of everything. And as such, you might miss stuff we wish …well, you wouldn’t.
So, every week, I’m going to comb through the site and point you, once again, to the stuff you should take the time to read. Either because it’s really funny, or because it’s a particularly good take, or just because I liked it. This is my list, after all.
Here are my picks for the 5 can’t miss Fangirlish articles of this week:
After ‘Bridgerton’: What Romance Series Should be Next?
After the success of Bridgerton, our romance novel queen, Jacqueline, discusses what other romance series she’d like to see adapted, and why. This list is just a starting place, of course, even someone who’s read as much as our expert can’t know everything, but Jacqueline went all the way, with some really great regency and contemporary options that we would all love to see on screen.
‘Fate: The Winx Saga’ Season 1 Advanced Review: “Discover Your Fate”
Fate: The Winx Saga doesn’t premiere till next week, but Raquel previews the season to come in this advanced review that, frankly, will probably delight fans of the series and make everyone really excited to at least check it out to form their own opinion. It’s clear Raquel enjoyed it, even if she has a thing or two she might have changed, had it been up to her.
Queerly Not Straight: ‘Bridgerton’ Has a Queerbaiting Problem
We all loved Bridgerton around here – including Lyra – but she still has some criticisms of it, valid ones, if you ask me, especially when it comes to Benedict and the way the show maybe teased a possibility in promotional materials it was never planning to follow through on. These are important conversations to have, and when someone in the LGBTQ+ community tells us how they felt about an issue such as this one, we should listen.
A Superhero and a Super Woman: 5 Reasons Why I Love Wanda Maximoff
With WandaVision premiering this week, Shelby went deep into why she loves Wanda and what makes her character great, on a new installment of her series on the Marvel female characters, a series that has previously featured Natasha and Pepper. Don’t forget to check out Shelby’s reviews of the first and second episode of WandaVision, as well!
‘Mr Mayor’ Shows What a Good Cast Can’t Do
Jade wanted to like Mr. Mayor, she really did. She went into it with the best of intentions, and predisposed to like it because she was excited about the cast. But not everything works when you want it to, and sometimes we just have to be honest about the things that don’t, even if it hurts. This is one of those instances. We’re sorry, Ted. We love you, Ted.
Special Mention:
‘Chicago Fire’, It’s Time For Brettsey
I’m not going to put myself in the top 5, but I have to share an article I was very happy to write this week, a piece on Chicago Fire‘s Brettsey, and why I think the show should absolutely move forward with the relationship. This was born partly of me having eyes and watching the show, and partly of me expressing my opinion on Twitter and getting insulted for it, so word to the wise, if you disagree with me, don’t come fight with me on Twitter, you’ll just make me want to put my opinions into an article.
