Welcome to another crazy week in Horseshoe Bay, Nancy Drew fans! This Hellmouth is getting ready to open ya’ll, and Nancy better get ready because the Aglaeca is coming for her and the Scooby gang. I thought this episode might finally wrap up this storyline, but it looks as though the Aglaeca is like a poltergeist.
You remember in the movie Poltergiest when the Freelings thought their house was “clean” and then come to find out the ghosts were still mad about that swimming pool, and their house ended up being sucked into a vortex? Well, that is exactly what I think is happening to Nancy right now, only in her case, she will be murdered along with her friends and drift off into that vortex. While tonight’s episode uncovered a lot of mysteries, it also dished out many more and I have so many questions. So, lets dive right on in to Nancy Drew 2×03 “The Secret of the Solitary Scribe.”:
AJ Ruins Everything
AJ is best known as the guy from 1975 who escaped the Aglaeca’s clutches, barely. AJ has been hiding out in a cabin in the woods ever since, just biding his time and writing bestselling horror novels. Weird twist right? Anyway, Nancy tracks him down with the help of Carson Drew and I don’t know who is more shocked about AJ’s present living conditions, Nancy or me. AJ’s mind has started to unravel over the years and honestly no one is shocked by this revelation.
You know what did shock me? How did AJ and his friends know about the Aglaeca in the first place? I mean Nancy and her friends went through an entire season, the Horseshoe Bay historical society, the ghostbusters and they are still clueless about how to stop this monster. Yet, I’m supposed to believe AJ from 1975 figured it out and has been living his life? I mean true it’s a half life, he is rich and famous, but like he cannot step outside his house without a damn ghost screaming at him or chasing him. That, was very scary to me, I don’t like things coming out of walls to attack me. Just sayin.
However, AJ was all like, these scary monsters are better than the Aglaeca coming to kill me. WTF? Really? I’m not sure I agree, AJ. I need more on this creature’s backstory. ASAP! AJ did own a totem that draws the most fearsome ghosts to you, BUT keeps the Aglaeca at bay, but how dumb is that? Damn AJ! The only thing you have contributed, that is worthwhile is this box, called a dybbuk, that can trap a ghosts spirit, and now it will be up to our boy Ace to figure out how it works.
Save Hannah, Save the World
Hannah it seems, is the key to this entire problem. Apparently in 1975 Hannah’s parents were killed in car crash caused by AJ and his friends, and the reason they called to Aglaeca was to spare Hannah from dying along side her parents. I mean it seems noble right? I like Hannah guys, I do. Nancy has depended on her knowledge for a while now, and Hannah always comes through in a crunch. My question has always been when did the Aglaeca turn evil? When did she start killing folks if they couldn’t pay her toll? Hannah, do you know? Please don’t die, because I need these questions answered next week. If anyone needs to be blamed for not paying toll it’s Bess’s family. They the one’s locked her down in the ocean! Now the Aglaeca looks like a deranged river mermaid, with missing teeth and stringy hair.
No fucking good. Also fuck you AJ for trying to kill Hannah, again! Just because Bess had the bright idea to just re-gift the Aglaeca with Lucy Sables bones, doesn’t mean you can murder Hannah and think that counts as you paying your toll. No boo. Can the Aglaeca please just go on and kill AJ, I don’t need to see him next week. Thank you.
Shabbat, Shalom!
So did anyone know Ace was Jewish? Apparently his mom is and his dad converted when they were married. I loved finding out this detail about him. Out of all the Nancy Drew characters, Ace is the most elusive. His dad invites the new detective over, for Shabbat and he says the Hamotzi. I kinda wanted him to sing it, because that’s what I’m used to, but whatever. I will take what I can get. I have already told ya’ll I don’t like this detective, because it seems to me that he has a secret. Why would he steal Lucy Sables skull? Why is he always there when bad shit is happening? Does he know Horseshoe Bay is really a Hellmouth? Hannah is already Giles, but the detective can be Ms. Calendar, I guess. Hint, Ms. Calendar dies.
Listen, I am willing to forgive and forget the detective being such an ass if he can figure out a way to save Nancy and her crew. By my count Nancy has less than two days left and honey, the Aglaeca is PISSED! Haha! That sea bitch threw Nancy’s mama’s bones back at her and tore up the Claw in the process. When a woman’s fed up ya’ll, it aint’ no where you can hide. Nancy honey, I hope you figure that dybbuk out soon, or find yourself a Willow so you can fight the Aglaeca with some confidence.
