‘Big Sky’ episode 1×07 “I Fall To Pieces” left us with some shocking moments, but episode 1×08 “The End Is Near” may have just topped them all. Let’s get into it.
Poor Merrilee

So, ‘Big Sky’ episode 1×07 “I Fall To Pieces” ended with Jenny and Cassie showing up on Merrilee’s doorstep with an artist sketch of Ronald, who was in her house. As Jenny and Cassie searched upstairs, surprise, surprise, the window was open and Ronald had escaped. They did notice that there was a hole in the closet where Ronald was attempting to search for the incriminating evidence Legarski told him he had. Sherriff Tubbs and Commander Sosa show up and question Merrilee, because obviously with her being married to Legarski, she must know who is accomplice was.
To be honest, we feel so bad for Merrilee, she’s been an unsuspecting pawn in all of this and she’s been lied to and manipulated by not only her husband but also Ronald, who she truly believed was a kind hearted guy that liked her. We want Merrilee to find some peace because this shit sucks for her.
He’s Losing It

Ronald is losing his shit. We mean he is really going batshit cuckoo bananas. The police are looking for him and the sketch of him is slapped on every newspaper in town. He’s talking to himself, he doesn’t know what his next move is and, personally, we think having his mom around was partially keeping him sane. He really needs her right now because DUDE!
Dangerous Paper Route

As we said, Ronald’s face is plastered on every newspaper in town which unfortunately causes a very bad situation for the local paperboy Erik in Big Sky 1×08 “The End is Near.” While out, he glances at the paper and realizes he recognizes Ronald from his route. When he gets to Ronald’s house, he takes some photos of him outside with the intention of turning him in. Sadly, Ronald is always one step ahead and never misses anything so he grabs the kid and locks him downstairs in the basement.
Erik is a little fighter though, and we saw that when he managed to get a hold of a staple gun and Ronald’s stun gun. We admit we cheered when Erik shot him in the face with the staple gun because he deserved it.
The Wrong House Call

As if Ronald doesn’t have enough going on, his mother’s Priest shows up looking for her. He tries to give him some story about her being away but the Priest is persistent and comes in to chat with Ronald. He informs him that his mom has been sharing some of her concerns about Ronald and his behavior. While the Priest and Ronald are chatting, Erik is working to escape and making a lot of noise. The Priest hears it and questions what’s going on down there. Ronald tells him he has a dog but the Priest is not buying it. Ronald insists it’s a dog and goes down to the basement to shut Erik up.
As Ronald is talking to Erik, the Priest comes downstairs and sees what’s going on. He quickly tries to escape and he puts up a hell of a fight delivering some pretty good blows to Ronald. We were rooting for the Priest to kick Ronald’s pyscho ass but in a huge WHAT THE FUCK moment, Ronald literally hops, yes we said HOPS onto the Priests back and drowns him in the kitchen sink. WE. ARE. SHOOKETH.
He’s Not There

Legarski still doesn’t remember anything about what he’s done and how he ended up in the hospital. Jenny and Cassie are getting frustrated, and they don’t believe it for a second so they devise a plan to try and force him to remember. Both ladies opt for face to face confrontations but none of them work and like they said, Legarski is not there. He is given a polygraph test, which he passes. Merrilee shows up and tells him how important it is for him to start remembering, particularly who his accomplice was.
Earlier in Big Sky 1×08 “The End is Near,” Erik’s mom showed up at Cassie’s agency and speaks to Denise about him not coming home after his paper route. When she informs her that he mentioned he thought he recognized the man in the paper, and was going to try and turn him in, she’s immediately on high alert. That makes it even more imperative for Legarski to remember because once they have a name, they can go after Ronald once and for all.
Other Thoughts

- That Lergarski standee…
- Note to self, don’t call Ronald “dangerous and depraved” even though he is.
- Ronald really loves his cereal.
- We love Jerrie. That is all.
- Erik, next time hop on your bike and check the photos after you’re in a safe place.
- The Priest was kicking ass and we really wanted him to escape Ronald. Like, we were really yelling at the TV so it was such a bummer when Ronald killed him.
- That finger tap on the bed from Legarski may be an indication that he’s still in there or at least coming back.
