I don’t care what anyone says – Hannah Montana was a good television show. Sure, it was filled with Disney cheese, but hey – so were so many great shows that are ingrained in American culture.
And hey, it gave us Miley Cyrus and she’s given us a lot of … stuff (for lack of a better word).
The co-creator of Hannah Montana is Michael Poryes partnering with a French production group for a new show, an Italy-set tween comedy series, titled Home Sweet Rome.
“I am way jazzed by the opportunity to create a series with all that is Rome as the backdrop and, indeed, as a character. A 13-year-old American girl having to move to this iconic city and adjust to new friends, new family, new culture and a whole new way of living life, while maintaining old friends thru social media, gives me the fun chance to explore her unique situation while always grounding everything she experiences in the universal emotional truths of being a young teen.” said in a comment to Deadline.
Don’t know if I am ashamed or proud to admit that I don’t even care, I will watch this show. It’s set in Rome, which is my favorite city in the world – so I am about it. It’s going to be shot on location in the city.
All I know about it is about an American girl Lucy Cole who moves to Rome with her father. Sold. I feel like it’s a tween version of Emily in Paris.
I have to wonder what is wrong with me that this is all it takes to get me interested in the show. But, I loved Hannah Montana so much, I can’t imagine that it is bad.
Doug Schwalbe has developed the show with Poryes. He will serve as an executive producer for the series, while Poryes will be the showrunner.
