Welcome back Nancy Drew fans! This week’s Nancy Drew 2×06 “The Riddle of the Broken Doll” takes place two weeks after last week’s events. Everyone thinks they are in a good place right now, because they survived death and overcame the Aglaeca curse. But we all know, Horseshoe Bay is still a hellmouth and George is still possessed by Odette, more on that later. Anyway, Nancy seems to be the only member of the Scooby gang that did not come out on top after the curse was lifted, because she is having to do community service at the city morgue. Bummer Nancy!
Also, Hannah a.k.a. Giles, is still pissed with Nancy for breaking into the historical society and releasing all those evil spirits. We all know that Horseshoe Bay is a demon magnet, and Nancy is becoming well versed in the supernatural. So why not just start meeting in the library with Giles and the rest of the Scooby gang, and start taking down a new baddie every week. Sounds like a reboot to me! There were tons of creepy moments in this week’s episode of Nancy Drew “The Riddle Of The Broken Doll” so let’s get right to it.
The Walking Dead
Nancy has to mop floors at the city morgue, and if that is not that’s not enough, her boss is kind of a jerk to her. This weird corpse gets brought in while she’s on duty and it is all sewn up like a doll, and filled with extinct flowers and bugs. Freaking CREEPY. First of all, I do not like zombies or zombie movies, because something that used to be dead that suddenly starts to chase after me and wants to eat my brain is like, no bueno. Hard Pass.
But not Nancy, she is intrigued with this dead entity and so are Ace, Bess, George, and Nick. Why guys? I understand everyone has a purpose when they are chasing evil spirits, and ghosts, but does anyone want to live another week? Horseshoe Bay is a death trap! The dead body (zombie) follows Nancy home from the Morgue, then falls out of her cupboard naked onto her kitchen floor, ummm no thank you.
Ace wants to dissect the zombie for medical purposes and because he thinks it’s cool. Bess is right there with them, and I actually kinda heart them together even though I know it will never be. Anyway, this zombie is just filled with your worst garbage pail kid character ever. Like a total treasure trove of freaking disgusting items. Soon Nancy’s house is being overtaken by bugs and flying insects. Those meddling kids! Ha!
Charles In Charge
Always listen to kids when they tell you weird shit is going on. Especially when you know your town is a Hellmouth. The medical examiner has a cute kid, who talks to dolls and they talk back. No one believes him. He keeps trying to warn these adults that Charles says they are all in danger but everyone just laughs it off. Nancy seems to kind of raise an eyebrow, but then gets distracted by trying to reconcile with Giles, oops I mean Hannah. Hannah is PISSED at Nancy for breaking into her house and letting all of those bad spirits loose, especially since no one really knows where they went or how to get them back into their boxes. I liked this part of the episode, because it sets up the rest of the season nicely. Nancy will have to work with her crew and Hannah to stop the Hellmouth from devouring them.
Charles protects the medical examiner’s son, but not before the walking zombie tries to attack him. Luckily Nancy’s brain is starting to work and she finally has a freaking plan to stop this malevolent spirit and get back into Hannah’s good graces. I’m with you one- hundred percent Nancy, you need all the help you can get. And if you don’t have a Giles, the world is surely doomed.
Zombies like children, probably because they’re tiny and slower than adults, which is why George’s younger siblings are attacked and almost have their souls sucked out. Seriously writers, how much more pain can we inflict on George this season? George literally died last week, this week her siblings almost die AND she is still possessed and singing in French. Give her a freaking break! Lemme just tell you, I almost shit my pants when Odette came through the damn-looking glass and stared George right in the face and smiled. WTF?
So is George dying and how is it Odette can possess her? If one dies can the other still live? So many questions writers! And yet, the only people having a semi-decent week in Horseshoe Bay are Nancy and Carson Drew. The Drews reconciled and Carson will be saved from bankruptcy because Nancy’s gonna help him solve his cases. Nancy is a freaking kick-ass slayer/detective. Meanwhile, everyone else, but especially George has been having the shittiest day ever.
