9-1-1: Lone Star 2×08 “Bad Call,” the winter finale of the show, was intense. Carlos made a tough decision that landed him in trouble, the paramedics got kidnapped, and “Bad Call” ended with a cliffhanger that we’ll be thinking about for weeks.
At the beginning of the episode, Carlos lets a suspect in a bank robbery go because he believes this man is in danger and isn’t responsible. But because he let a criminal go, he’s under investigation by his father. Awkward. Especially since it doesn’t look like his father believes him at first. It was sad watching Carlos doubt himself and his instincts. We know he’s a good cop. We liked that Owen had a talk with him and convinced him to trust his gut.
Luckily, Carlos was right, and there were other people responsible for the robbery. Unfortunately, before they can locate the criminals, one of them calls 9-1-1 pretending to be pregnant. When TK, Tommy, and Nancy head to the parking garage, they quickly realize it was a trick. They’re kidnapped and things go to bad to worse after TK gets knocked out when trying to pull the fire alarm. Then the guy wakes up and chokes Tommy and murders the other robber. We were so relieved when Carlos and Owen showed up to save TK, Nancy, and Tommy.

We should have known that 9-1-1: Lone Star 2×08 “Bad Call” wouldn’t end on a happy note. Judd and Grace’s trip to his dad’s starts off super cute. Judd tells Grace he’s ready for kids, and we really want a Ryder baby. But it’s raining extremely hard, and their car ends up running off bridge and flying into the water below.
We’re not okay. And we’re not going to recover until we know that Judd and Grace are fine. The 126 will rescue them, right? We love all of these characters, but Grace and Judd have a special place in our hearts.

Other Thoughts:
- It seems like Carlos’ dad is finally accepting his relationship with TK. He already figured out TK was Carlos’ boyfriend. We’re happy for Carlos and hope that he can continue to have a good relationship with both his boyfriend and his dad.
- Is this the last we’ll see of Gwyn? We know the baby isn’t Owen’s, but Gwyn is still TK’s mom, and we hope she’ll still make appearances. And at least TK’s parents have a better relationship now.
- We’re impressed that TK left his sobriety chip in the parking lot to let others know he was there. Smart.
