Here’s the thing I love about Michael B. Jordan – his rider always includes making sure that the crew working with him is diverse and he makes sure to give people chances. He knows his power, he knows that he can use it for good and affect peoples lives in a positive way.
That and he’s a really nice guy.
The actor is starring in Creed III, but it was officially confirmed today that he will also be directing the film.
Now it’s something that we’ve known was coming, because it was leaked a long time ago by a co-star, but it was never confirmed. Also several years ago Irwin Winkler, producer of the original Rocky films and the Creed spinoffs, had said that Jordan would be directing the third installment of the film.
“Directing has always been an aspiration, but the timing had to be right,” Jordan shared in an official statement about the announcement. “Creed III is that moment — a time in my life where I’ve grown more sure of who I am, holding agency in my own story, maturing personally, growing professionally, and learning from the Greats like Ryan Coogler, most recently Denzel Washington, and other top tier directors I respect. All of which sets the table for this moment.”
He continued, “This franchise and in particular the themes of Creed III are deeply personal to me. I look forward to sharing the next chapter of Adonis Creed’s story with the awesome responsibility of being its director and namesake.”
Creed III is due in theaters November 23, 2022.
