I can’t even imagine what The Royal Family is going through. I have lost my grandparents, but I haven’t had to loose them on a global scale where the entire world is watching.
Prince William took to Instagram today today and spoke about his Grandfather, Prince Philip.
“My grandfather’s century of life was defined by service – to his country and Commonwealth, to his wife and Queen, and to our family.” he started the post.
He continued, “I feel lucky to have not just had his example to guide me, but his enduring presence well into my own adult life – both through good times and the hardest days. I will always be grateful that my wife had so many years to get to know my grandfather and for the kindness he showed her. I will never take for granted the special memories my children will always have of their great-grandpa coming to collect them in his carriage and seeing for themselves his infectious sense of adventure as well as his mischievous sense of humour!”
“My grandfather was an extraordinary man and part of an extraordinary generation. Catherine and I will continue to do what he would have wanted and will support The Queen in the years ahead. I will miss my Grandpa, but I know he would want us to get on with the job.” he concluded the post.
Prince Philip’s funeral will be taking place on Saturday 17 April 2021 at 3pm in St George’s Chapel, Windsor. 30 people will be attending the funeral in accordance with Covid-19 guidelines.
A palace spokesman said, “Although the ceremonial arrangements are reduced, the occasion will still celebrate and recognize the duke’s life and his more than 70 years of service to the Queen, the UK and the Commonwealth.”
“While there is sadness that the public will not be able to physically be part of events to commemorate the life of the duke, the royal family asks that anyone wishing to express their condolences do so in the safest way possible and not by visiting Windsor or any other royal palaces to pay their respects,″ the palace spokesman said. “The family’s wish is very much that people continue to follow the guidelines to keep themselves and others safe.″
Our thoughts and prayers are with The Royal Family at this time.
