Welcome back Nancy Drew fans! This week was kind of filler episode, but did give us the entire back story on Ace’s long lost brother Grant and how he came to be in Horseshoe Bay and working at the Claw. We also got to see Carson and Nancy get back into a rhythm with one another, now that he’s moved back in.
Bess tries to communicate with Odette, major vomit emoji! I told you guys, I am so over Odette right now. Why is she still around? Why Lord? Anyway, Odette writes Bess a love letter, and this will be yet another doomed relationship for both ladies, just saying….
Meanwhile, Nick is still trying to bring the Hudson’s down and Nancy is trying to win her grandmother over. None of this ends well for anybody and if the writers would have asked for my opinion I would have told them so. There were a lot of intersecting storylines on Nancy Drew, “The Trail Of the Missing Witness,” so lets dive in shall we.
The Tale of Ace and his Missing Brother
Ace was finally introduced to his half brother Grant at the end of last weeks episode. This week we picked back up with those two and Ace asking the question that all of us want to know. “How did you find me?” Thank you Ace! How indeed. Well Grant gives an entire backstory as to how he ended up searching for Ace, beginning with being a line cook at the Claw.
It was actually kind of funny, because Grant has done all of this observation on Ace and it’s all from his perspective and it’s hilarious to watch. Ace tells Grant not to eat a salad for lunch because it won’t sustain him through the dinner rush and he chastises him for scrubbing the grill, by stating that Grant is taking away the flavor layer. Haha! Truth Ace, truth.
Nancy comes to the rescue and agrees to help the boys locate what ever missing artifact Grants mom hid in a tunnel in the woods, years ago, before she went into witness protection. None of this story makes sense to me, and again I don’t care at all. Why is every storyline starting to annoy me now? Do I need to do yoga and just breathe? Maybe.
Anyway, Nancy, Ace and Grant go into the tunnels, almost die but find the missing artifact which turns out to be a computer game, sort of like a game boy, but not. No one knows what is hidden on there or why Grants mom would go to such great links to hide it. Who cares? Will it free Odette? Keep all the spirits in there boxes at the Historical Society? If the answer is NO, then I don’t freaking care!
However, in this case, the device does turn out to be useful, because it lists the names of all the witness that were going to testify at the trial of Daniel West. Daniel, would totally get on with Hudson’s, he would have fit right in with that clan, he’s just as calculating and murderous as Everette Hudson. Nancy asks her grandmother, Celia for help, when Daniel Kidnaps Ace, but we all know, that you can’t bargain with a Hudson Nancy! Come on girl, be smarter! Celia tells her sure she will help her, if she retracts her testimony in the trial against her grandfather.
Damn, Damn, Damn!
Nancy reluctantly agrees to these terms, because she doesn’t want Ace to die, but now she is in some deep shit, with her dad, her grandparents and her morals. Yikers!
Bess and Odette At It Again
Okay, Odette, I am glad you are helping Jessie with her French homework but that doesn’t give you the right to use George’s body for escapades with your latest folly, Bess. Also Bess shame on you, for falling for a dead ghost trapped inside your best friends body! WTF? Writers! Come on!
This storyline was cool for like a hot second, but times up, move along and take Odette with you. What the fuck is her purpose? She does nothing but complain and she is NOT moving the plot along. I don’t get it and I don’t know why they can’t find Bess a living love interest? How hard can it be?
Will Odette’s spirit be transferred into someone else’s body at the season finale? Like someone who just died, but then Odette gets transferred to them completely? I will actually get on board with that, if it means I don’t have to listen to George speak French anymore. I am so glad that George found the love letters between Bess and Odette and shut that shit down! Loved it! Bess should know better.
Also, good for George and the Claw on winning best clam chowder, at the annual chowder festival, lord knows they need the recognition and the new customers at the Claw right now. Nick was useless as usual, but optimistic about his future and taking down the Hudson’s. Until next week guys!
