There are two writers that made me fall in love with reading are Jenny Han and Sarah Dessen. So to me, it’s only fitting that the two of them are colliding in a different way.
Sofia Alvarez, the screenwriter behind the Netflix hit To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, has teamed up with Netflix to write the adaptation for Dessen’s book, Along For The Ride.
And even more exciting – she’s set to direct the movie that has a pretty great cast so far.
Emma Pasarow and Belmont Cameli star alongside Kate Bosworth , Laura Kariuki, Andie MacDowell, Dermot Mulroney, Genevieve Hannelius, Samia Finnerty, Paul Karmiyran, Marcus Scribner and Ricardo Hurtado. I mean, you can’t argue that cast isn’t amazing.
The story centers around, “Auden, who during the summer before college meets the mysterious Eli, a fellow insomniac. While the seaside town of Colby sleeps, the two embark on a nightly quest to help Auden experience the fun, carefree teen life she never knew she wanted.”
Netflix has optioned quite a few of Dessen’s novels, including This Lullaby, Once and For All, and, most recently, The Truth About Forever.
We’re excited to see this one come to life. It’s definitely time for a reread to prepare ourselves for the greatness.
The movie is set to film in North Carolina. You can be that this is one that we will be following closely.
