Personally, we love a good horror movie. Or at least this author does. We love the spooks, we love the terror, and we love the possibility of their being some half-faced girl at some abandoned building in Maui, Hawaii. That’s exactly what you get in the horror film The Resort. And instead of going for a regular review, we’ve decided to mix things up and talk about the 5 things we learned while watching the horror film The Resort.
1. How talented Brock O’Hurn is.
We’ve been Brock fans for a really long time. And honestly, The Resort proves that he can do just about anything. Modeling? Sure, in the bag. Acting? He’s got it. Horror movie where things go wrong left and right? No problem for O’Hurn. He also does this while looking devastatingly handsome and being a secret softie when we interviewed him here.
2. That you should never visit abandoned hotels.
We don’t care how many stories you’ve heard or how badly you want to go and visit this abandoned resort, Lex. It’s a big ol’ no for us with a side of never. Especially with what happened to those guards and the stories told about this place? Yeah, girl. You are going by yourself and I will wave at you as you fly off to the creepiest island ever.
3. That makeup can do great and many things.
Without giving too much away, because we hope you go and give The Resort a chance, this movie really went with it when it came to the makeup and special effects. Was it all perfect? No. Even the best movies have a fumble or two. But there are a couple…bloody moments that make you go, “So that happened and someone had to put that together.” Interesting.
4. How much I miss Michael Vlamis.
Seriously, where has Michael been and why hasn’t he turned to our screens as Michael Guerin on Roswell, New Mexico. Oh wait, it’s because he was filming The Resort! He really did play a completely different character that annoyed me sometimes because he was the comedian smart aleck of them all. But he played it well and that’s all that matters.
5. How important the Gram is.
Look, so what if you don’t have signal right now. You take those photos, Bree. Take all the pics to your hearts content because you never know what can happen. (You know what happens, if you’ve watched the trailer.) Life is an adventure, with many twists and turns. So, get that Instagram pic and hustle forward.
The Resort is now available On Demand.
