Peacock is coming hard and we love to see it. The streaming service is developing Red Queen based off the novels by Victoria Aveyard. We feel so much excitement over this, especially the fact that it would be a series versus a movie.
And then there is the fact that Elizabeth Banks will be playing a major supporting role and directing. Banks and Max Handelman are executive producing through their Brownstone Productions.
The show would come from Warner Bros. TV where Brownstone has a first look deal.
The series is co-written by former Arrow showrunner Beth Schwartz and the author of the books, Victoria Aveyard. Schwartz also has a first look deal with Warner Bros. TV.
And we stan anyone who has the author involved and knows that they need them to stay true to the story. After all, their vision is what created a fandom in the first place.
If you aren’t familiar with Red Queen it is about, “an alternate near-future America where democracy is replaced by a monarchy led by a group of humans with superpowers who rule with an iron fist over those without powers. Mare, a fiery young woman born to poverty without powers, is doing the best she can to survive and protect her family when she discovers the unthinkable: She somehow has powers too! This shocking discovery turns our world upside down and catapults our unlikely hero to become the face of a revolution for the oppressed while searching for the truth behind the greatest mystery of all…how she became so powerful in the first place.”
We could not be more excited for this possibility. Need this now.
Have you read the books? What are your thoughts? How excited are you?
