Loki is here, and today episode 2 of the show premiered on Disney+. We’re not going to go into spoilers yet …but we have to say, we are loving the show so far, and one of the reasons why is …well, Tom Hiddleston. The actor, who has portrayed Loki since the first Thor movie, and has elevated the character from villain to the villain everybody just loves, without the hate part, has been doing the rounds to promote the show, and in an interview with Reuters, he specifically discussed the matter of his character’s gender fluidity.
You can check out the interview below:
“Loki, as a character, has had such a broad and wide-ranging identity,” Hiddleston explains in this interview, describing his character as the type “that you could never put in a box, you could never pin down.” But he went even further, referencing the character’s gender fluidity, which is canon in the comics, and expressing that he was personally “really pleased that we were able to touch on that in the series.”
So are we, Tom. So are we. Here’s to more characters like Loki, and more actors championing their characters’ identity.
Loki is available to stream on Disney+.
