🎵. It’s a hard not life for us… it’s a hard not life for us. 🎵
Annie will always be one of the most iconic movies of all time and we love it. Live action ones… well we’re trying to be better people so we’ll keep the doubt to ourselves.
And they are trying to prove to us that we’re going to love it, but what they’ve done is made us feel really fucking old with who they cast as Daddy Warbucks.
Harry Connick Jr. is set to play the iconic role. It’s hard to believe that he’s 53, but apparently he is, and he’s going to be the billionaire that we all know and love.
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to play Daddy Warbucks in ‘Annie Live!’ and working alongside Taraji P. Henson is a dream come true,” Connick said Monday. “I love this show, and its musical message of love and hope couldn’t come at a better time.”
Annie opens up Daddy Warbucks heart and makes him come alive. It’s a role that was previously played by Albert Finney and Jamie Foxx and by Reid Shelton in the original 1977 Broadway musical. It’s a big role to step into.
“It’s such a classic show and it’s a show that I’m so familiar with, just from seeing it a million times,” Harry told People. “And it’s one of those things where you watch it and enjoy it and never really imagine yourself a part of it, so when I was asked to play Daddy Warbucks it was kind of surreal because that’s such an iconic role.”
A nationwide casting search is underway for the role of Annie. We’re excited to see what happens and can’t wait to see the whole cast come together.
Annie Live! is set to air on NBC on December 2, 2021.
It would be interesting to see how it turns out. I still love the 80s movie version – Carol Burnette is a riot 🙂
