A new teaser image has been released confirming that John Wick 4 has started filming. It was posted to the official John Wick Twitter and Rina Sawayama quote tweeted it. The latter we’re excited to see joining the team due to the fact that Sawayama is a talented musician with a fast growing fan base. We’re also excited to see Shamier Anderson, best known for his role as Dolls on Wynonna Earp joining the John Wick family. He also posted that filming had begun on his Instagram.
Most importantly, Keanu Reeves is back in his starring role as the suit wearing assassin who started on this adventure when his dog was killed back in the first John Wick. That adventure was due to grief that John was experiencing after the loss of his wife and the last gift she bestowed upon him. Each movie after that has dived deeper into the organized and criminal world that John belongs to. Or, belonged to, if we’re being accurate.
Not much is known about the plot of John Wick 4. But according to Collider, John will be fighting his way through Berlin, Paris, Japan, and then back to New York City. Chad Stahelski is also set to direct and Shay Hatten from Army of the Dead and Michael Finch from American Assassin are set to write the 4th installment of this expanding world.
Joining Reeves, Sawayama, and Anderson are a couple familiar faces. Ian McShane is set to return as Winston while Laurence Fishburne is set to return as the Bowery King. Hiroyuki Sanada, from the Mortal Kombat remake, is set to join the cast according to Collider. So are Donnie Yen from Rogue One and Bill Skarsgård from It. Together they form a badass cast that we can’t wait to see working together…or against each other.
John Wick is set to be released on May 27, 2022.
