The first footage of Spencer is here and it has absolutely taken our breathe away.
Yesterday, the first poster for Spencer was released and it definitely invoked a lot of emotion. The Pablo Larraín film looks absolutely beautiful and this trailer is stunning.
The film takes places in December of 1991, and here’s the synopsis, “The Prince and Princess of Wales’ marriage has long since grown cold. Though rumours of affairs and a divorce abound, peace is ordained for the Christmas festivities at Sandringham Estate. There’s eating and drinking, shooting and hunting. Diana knows the game. This year, things will be a whole lot different.”
So basically during her Christmas holidays with the royal family at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England, Diana (Stewart) decides to leave her marriage to Prince Charles. We’re really excited to see the film.
Starring alongside Kristen are Timothy Spall (“Mr. Turner”), Sally Hawkins (“The Shape of Water”) and Sean Harris (“Mission: Impossible”).
At Cinemacon, insiders got a first look at the film. EW describes the shown scene as, “a nearly unrecognizable Stewart and Farthing square off over a pool table in what is presumably a billiards room on the royal estate. The two, who are separated by the length of the table with a series of perfectly cued all-red balls between them, are immediately at odds and arguing about one of their sons shooting with the family. At one point, she barely contains her anger by banging on the pool table in rage. It’s quickly clear that the real issue is not the shooting, but various untruths and resentments between the couple. Charles confronts her about everything from wandering the grounds alone, to how she opens curtains, and possible infidelities are implied. But, at the heart of his issues with her, is her apparent lack of desire to conform to royal standards.”
The release date for the film is November 5, 2021.
