Stargirl 2×07, “Summer School: Chapter Seven,” is all about Yolanda facing her past. That means that some ghosts are coming back to haunt her. The promo video confirms that Christopher James Baker will return as Brainwave. But what about Henry Jr.?
There are teases that Jake Austin Walker may have a cameo in this episode. There are shots of Henry Jr.s’ letterman jacket in the trailer. While that could be a stand-in, that person looks a lot like Walker from the back.
Can you blame me for jumping to the best conclusions with Walker’s return? His performance as Henry Jr. is one of the standouts of last season. Of course, I want to see more of him in this role!
The mere possibility of this makes my mind start turning with theories. Yolanda’s headaches, a supposed side effect of killing Brainwave, have subsided. What changes to make her physically see Brainwave and potentially Henry Jr.?
My fingers are crossed that maybe, just maybe, Yolanda’s headaches are a sign that Henry Jr. isn’t actually dead. Hear me out! The alternative of Brainwave somehow surviving wouldn’t land nearly as well as Henry Jr. surviving.
Henry was only starting to understand his powers when he died. He got headaches, too. Brainwave was beyond headaches and beyond redemption. What if Yolanda’s headaches are a sign that Henry is alive and in the tunnels? It wouldn’t be shocking if Cindy is hiding him there.
Even if Brainwave and Henry Jr. are just ghosts, “Summer School: Chapter Seven,” looks like it’ll be a perfect opportunity for Yvette Monreal to floor us with her incredible talent. Her performance in the promo video alone is enough to bring tears to my eyes.
This episode could be great if it gives Yolanda’s PTSD and overall mental health the attention it deserves. Plus, it appears as though we’re going to get some scenes of the JSA bonding outside of their super suits. Maybe Rick will finally disclose Grundy’s fate to the group.
